Hotpoint L64ME
1950
Bands: AM
Tube Lineup: 6BE6, 6AR7, N78, OR, KT61, 5Y3
This neat Hotpoint L64ME was made by General Electric Company Australia, Ltd in Sydney, Australia. The radio uses a mix of 1940s octal and 1950s miniature tubes, and has a heavy transformer for 200-260V operation. Housed in a neat football-like brown bakelite cabinet that completely encloses the radio electronics from front to back, this model was also available in burgundy and ivory. The large slide rule dial on this radio is reminiscent of late 1930s American GE and RCA tombstone radios, and is very different in appearance from most post-WWII American radio design styles.
