A nice streamline design, this Admiral has a striking deco cabinet and a glass slide-rule dial that is similar to the 6M model, but without the brass dial escutcheon and sold a year earlier.
For Admiral radios from around this era, the first 3 digits in the model number before the dash is the cabinet color. The 166-5D is walnut brown bakelite that originally sold for $16.95, 167-5D is plaskon for $19.95, and the rarer 168-5D is "Onyx" beetle plastic for $22.95.
