Zephyr

Zephyr

1940

Bands: AM

Tube Lineup: 14Q7, 12SK7, 12SQ7, 50L6, 35Z5

This Zephyr radio is a very interesting and uncommon example seldom seen today. The model number is unknown and the only information given away is the "Zephyr" on the paper dial face. The tube lineup in this example does not match any known Zephyr models. I suspect this radio was a mix-and-match with a chassis transplanted from elsewhere because there are only 4 known models produced by Zephyr with this tube lineup with the exception of 12SA7 used instead of a 14Q7, but the schematics of those models show chassis drawings and tube placement that does not match this example. The knobs on this Zephyr are the same types often seen on Pacific radios. Nevertheless, this Zephyr is a very nice and interesting piece to add to the collection.
