SWTPC 6800
1976
The SWTPC 6800 was an early personal microcomputer introduced in late 1975 by Southwest Technical Products Corporation, a San Antonio, Texas based company known for its DIY electronics kits. Based on the Motorola 6800 CPU and using the SS-50 bus architecture, the SWTPC 6800 offered hobbyists a modular and affordable platform for computing, programming, and expansion at a time when home computers were just emerging. It typically shipped as a kit that users assembled themselves. The system supported serial terminals, memory expansion, and a range of I/O and storage boards. Read more about the SWTPC 6800 here.
